Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Helquaris Digital handles personal data collected through this website. It applies to visitors, readers who contact us, and anyone who submits a message through our forms. The site operates at helquaris.digital.
Information we collect
Two kinds of data reach us: what you send on purpose, and what the site records while you read.
What you give us
Your name, your email address, and the content of a message submitted through our contact form. If you send a news tip or a correction request, that message is part of the record too.
What your visit records
Browser type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and the pages you viewed. This stays coarse on purpose — it tells us which coverage is being read, not who is reading it.
We do not collect payment information. This site does not sell products and does not process payments, so no card or billing details are ever requested.
How we use information
Replying
Messages you send are used to answer you, and nothing else. If you ask about a story we published, your note goes to the desk that handles it.
Tips and corrections
News tips and correction requests are reviewed against our published coverage and kept where they support what we report or fix.
Keeping the site up
Technical data shows which pages load correctly, which ones readers use, and where traffic looks like abuse rather than interest.
Not for advertising
We do not use submitted information for advertising purposes, we do not build reader profiles to sell, and we do not sell personal data.
Legal bases and consent
Where the law requires a stated reason for processing personal data, we rely on two of them. Consent is the first: you give it when you submit a form, and you can take it back at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent stops future processing — it does not undo processing that already happened before you asked.
The second is our legitimate interest in running and securing the site. That covers keeping the servers healthy, keeping the archive available to readers, and blocking automated traffic that tries to scrape or disrupt it.
| What we process | Why | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name and email from a form | To reply to you | Consent |
| Message content and tip details | Review of tips and corrections | Consent |
| Browser, approximate location, pages viewed | Site operation, security, abuse detection | Legitimate interest |
| Correspondence kept as a correction record | Accountability for published coverage | Legitimate interest |
How long we keep things
Data retention
Different records have different lifespans. A message asking why a debate was covered a certain way may matter for months. A page-view log rarely matters for more than a few weeks.
-
Contact messages and tips
Kept as long as it takes to review and respond, and longer when the information supports published coverage or a correction record. A correction record exists so a reader can see what changed and when.
-
Technical logs
Held for a shorter period, sized to what site security actually needs. When a log no longer serves that purpose, it is deleted or anonymized so it can no longer be tied to a visit.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share information only in the narrow cases below, and each one has a limit attached to it.
Service providers that help run the site — hosting and email delivery, for example — handle data under agreements that restrict them to operating our services and nothing further. Copy is edited in-house, and nothing about how this policy works changes because a provider is involved.
When we may disclose
- When the law requires it, such as a valid legal order or a regulatory obligation.
- To protect the rights and safety of the site and its users, including investigating abuse of our forms or servers.
- With your direction, if you ask us to pass a message or a document to someone else.
If we are ever required to hand over subscriber information, we review the demand for legal validity before responding.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain kinds of processing. Rights vary by jurisdiction, so the exact set that applies to you depends on your location.
Send requests through our contact page with enough detail for us to locate your data — an approximate date, the email address you used, or the subject of your message. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Access and correction
Ask what we hold about you, and ask us to fix anything that is wrong or incomplete. Where we can, we will confirm what we have in plain language rather than a data dump.
Deletion
Ask us to delete a message you sent. One limit is honest to state: if the message is part of a correction record or supports published coverage, we may need to keep a copy.
Objection
Object to processing based on legitimate interest, including the technical logging used to secure the site. We will weigh your request against the security need and explain the outcome.
Withdrawing consent
Contact us at any time to withdraw the consent you gave when submitting a form. Future processing stops; processing that already occurred is not reversed.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute protection — anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
If a breach affects your data, we will notify you as required by law, and we will describe what happened in the same plain terms we use for corrections to our coverage.
What this means in practice
- Send sensitive material only if you are comfortable doing so. Tips are read by an editor, not by advertising or marketing staff.
- Ask before attaching documents if you want to know how they will be stored and for how long.
- If you believe your data has been mishandled, write to us first so we can look at the specific case.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do, the effective date at the top of the page changes with it. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Material changes are the ones worth watching: what we collect, why we collect it, and who can see it. If a change narrows your rights rather than widening them, it will be stated directly rather than buried in reworded clauses.

Questions about this policy, or requests regarding your data, can be sent through our contact page. Please include enough detail for us to identify the data in question — the email address you used, roughly when you wrote, and what you would like us to do.
Readers send tips and correction requests through the same route. Both are read by the editorial desk during working hours.

Where our coverage sits
The policy above applies across the site. These are the sections readers ask about most when they write in about how we work.
